An interactive game-like experience to help user practice mindfulness meditation.
Role: Solo Project
Target Audience: Beginning meditators and psychonauts.
Key Insights: Meditation as a repetitive action, maps on to game loops very well, allowing for an effective game eliciting mindfulness.
This Research project was driven by the question of wheteher or not the fundamental understanding of the game design process could effectively be chnegd to facilitate the developemnt of games that elicit mindfulness in Players.
My responsibilities included:
Researching mindfulness and game development to create a design framework to create games that elicit mindfulness.
Designing an experiment that would measure how effective the game was in creating a mindfull state in the user.
Analysing the data and presenting the findings in my thesis.
Pitching the idea as part of Scottish institute of Enterprise fresh ideas competition.
